Supporting Rosalind
Opera has the unique ability to bring the complex strands of Rosalind’s story to life; the intellectual struggles, the difficult relationships and personal sacrifices, and at the same time, it will be an event that will successfully bridge the gap between art and science. The decision to perform the opera in the very building where Rosalind worked breaks away from traditional opera settings, creating a more accessible and contextually rich experience for the audience. The intimate nature of this chamber opera—featuring 12 singers and 11 players—lends itself perfectly to character-driven narratives of the work.
Opportunities for instrumentalists, singers, and designers to be involved in the creation of a new opera are rare, making this production particularly exciting for all those involved. This was clear after the first run-through at the National Opera Studio in 2022, which led to developing the plans to stage a full production.
We are enormously grateful to all those who have agreed to support us in this project and we are well on the way to achieving our fundraising target of £100,000. Currently we still need to raise c. £24,000 and we would be grateful if you would like to support us. We are a small charity dedicated to this ambitious enterprise and we would love you to be involved. Please do use the online donation form or contact Alexandra White at helixmusic25@gmail.com who would be delighted to speak to you.
