John Crowley

For some years after university, John was a freelance singer, with various London-based ensembles, in Paris with Le Groupe Vocal de France and in Copenhagen with the Danish Radio Chamber Choir. After working in financial markets in the City, he relocated to Dartmoor and qualified (and briefly practised) as a solicitor, before then spending the remainder of his career in investment management. In addition to Helix Music, he is also a trustee of three Devon-based music-based charities.

Stephen worked for 35 years in consulting, international finance and investment in Britain and overseas. Since retiring, he has completed a PhD in History at UCL, where he taught undergraduates part-time. He is also a member of Hampshire Music Services’ Strategic Hub Board and a governor of Everest Community Academy in Basingstoke. As a qualified teacher of English as a second language, he volunteers one day a week at a secondary school in Guildford.

Alexandra White

Alexandra was Organ Scholar at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford where she read music. After a brief time working for BBC Radio 3, she has had a varied career in music teaching, professional gardening, charity fundraising and event management for the hospice movement. In the 1990s Alexandra also established Loseley Opera through her company Alexis Productions Ltd producing two summer operas in a purpose-built marquee within the gardens of Loseley. These productions were supported by a team that included members from the former Kent Opera. In addition to Helix Music she is a Trustee of the Surrey Gardens Trust.

With Helix Music firmly established she is hoping to seek out other opportunities for British composers in the future.
